The Clearinghouse issues every RIN — and maintains the record.

A robot doesn't get to speak on the network until the Clearinghouse verifies its identity, its manufacturer, and the organization responsible for it. After that, the Clearinghouse keeps the record current for the rest of the robot's life.

The RIN is permanent. The record is dynamic.

Verification

A registrar reviews the submitted robot, its documents, and its hardware identity.

RIN issuance

A cryptographic RIN is bound to a public key and to a responsible organization.

Ownership & custody updates

Legal owner, custodian, operator and service custody are recorded as they change — without reissuing the RIN.

Lifecycle events

Deployments, repairs, inspections, restrictions and reactivations enter the permanent record.

Configuration changes

Component replacements, software, firmware, model and autonomy changes are versioned over time.

Maintenance records

Authorized service providers file service and repair records against the RIN.

Incidents

Reported incidents and near misses are logged, reviewed and remediated in the open record.

Recalls

Recall notices, affected populations and remediation status are tracked to the robot.

Insurance verification

Coverage, carrier, limits and validity are verified at the moment work is authorized.

Operational trust status

Verified, conditional, quarantined or decommissioned — always current.

Transfer verification

Both parties confirm; the registry verifies; the history carries over intact.

Decommissioning

End of operational life is recorded, not erased.

Anyone can verify a RIN and its public history against the Clearinghouse.

what the registry holds

The Clearinghouse stores or verifies the provenance, integrity, metadata, cryptographic hashes and references necessary to trust a record — not every video, sensor file, proprietary software package or piece of raw evidence. Sensitive material stays with the party that holds it and is released under permission.
