The RIN Network specification is a living draft. Each release is versioned, dated and recorded here. Current version: 0.4-draft.

    Lifecycle history, provenance & chain of custody

    • Introduced the RIN Lifecycle Record: a chronological, verifiable event history for every RIN.
    • Formalized chain of custody across legal owner, custodian, operator and service custody.
    • Added verified transfer records with both-party confirmation and registry verification.
    • Documented the twelve RIN Registry Layers, replacing the earlier nine-layer description.
    • Published the /lifecycle explainer and the /rin/demo demonstration record.

    Trust status, insurance, cybersecurity & marketplace

    • Added operational trust statuses (verified, restricted, quarantined, suspended, decommissioned).
    • Added the Insurance layer: policies, carriers, limits and validity surfaced on public profiles.
    • Added the Cybersecurity layer: firmware attestations, signed updates and audit records.
    • Introduced incidents and recalls with public registry transparency.
    • Launched the task marketplace with bids, and Beacon status heartbeats.

    Trust, tasks and transactions

    • Added scoped, expiring trust relationships between organizations.
    • Added task negotiation with an authorization-gated state machine.
    • Added RIN-T sandbox wallets and machine-to-machine settlement.
    • Added the Protocol Lab end-to-end simulator and the developer API surface.

    Clearinghouse registry foundation

    • Defined the RIN format R-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-C with a mod-97 check character.
    • Established the Clearinghouse registry, organizations, roles and audit log.
    • Added robot registration, registrar review and public RIN lookup.
    • Added capability discovery through the public directory.
